Principal Research Interests
Our research interests are in the general area of photoionization mass spectrometry, photoelectron spectroscopy, photodissociation dynamics, and ion-neutral reaction dynamics. We are particularly interested in developing new experimental methods to advance the studies of these research fields. We are engaging in several projects funded by DOE, AFOSR, NSF, and NASA. Recently, we have developed two-color infrared-vacuum ultraviolet laser photoion-photoelectron and ion-imaging methods, allowing the measurement of truly rovibrationally selected and resolved photoionization studies for polyatomic molecules. These new methods are being applied to determine the structures, energetics, and reaction dynamics of neutrals and ions, which are of relevance to combustion, atmospheric, planetary, and interstellar chemistry.
