Principal Research Interests
Chemical Education and Science Education
There are three major components to this work. First, laboratory work, which involves the development of chemical demonstrations and of a general chemistry laboratory program. The laboratory program must include significant quantitative techniques and analysis, be cost effective, limit waste and environmental impacts, be closely connected with the lecture curricula, and both challenge and stimulate the students. Second, programs that offer collaboration and involve extensive summer research projects for high achieving high school students. The goal of these programs is to train these students to be scientists and encourage them to pursue careers in this area. Third, collaborative programs with high school teachers to develop high school science curriculum.
