Analysis of the biochemical mechanisms underlying light-mediated plant growth and development. Structure-function studies on the plant photoreceptor phytochrome. Biochemistry of linear tetrapyrrole metabolic enzymes. Directed evolution of phytochromes, phycobiliproteins and bilin reductases. Development of phytochrome-based fluorescent probes.
