Electives

The general B.S. degree in chemistry requires course 124B or 124C (shown in italics). The prerequisite for course 124L is course 124B or 124C, which may be taken concurrently.

The sample schedule has required courses generally taken as early in the program as possible in order to permit the greatest flexibility in choosing electives and to allow qualified students to elect a full year of undergraduate research, Chem 194H or 199, in their senior year. Students who plan to continue their studies in graduate school are strongly urged to participate in undergraduate research, and should consult their major advisor for further information.

There are offset sequences of Chemistry 2ABC and Mathematics 21ABCD and 22AB that start in different quarters than shown above. For the upper division courses, there are offset sequences of Chemistry 128ABC and 129ABC that start in Winter, and offset sequences of Chemistry 110ABC and Chemistry 105, 115 and 125 that start in Spring.

A listing of acceptable elective courses in chemistry for the B.S. degree is available  here.
